  • Helping at Home

A child's motivation to read is very much related to their reading success.  Adults at home can motivate students by providing access to high interest books, a choice of reading material, and time each day for reading as a family activity.  In addition, selecting "Just Right Books" and using precise strategy language provides at home support that help students become successful and motivated readers.  The presentation includes information on all of these topics as well as other ideas to motivate and support your reader at home.

Many thanks to the fifth grade class for their class gift of a Buddy Bench designed to further facilitate the tenants of the Responsive Classroom curriculum: to be a friend, and to treat others with respect. I trust that those in attendance were pleased to see the student created iMovie’s/ Public Service Announcements that centered on their Fifth Grade Service Project to raise food for AFAC, the Arlington Food Assistance Center.  Special thanks to our co-chairs and their team of volunteers: Jo Guerrera and Julie King. From the opening touch of hearing our Knights sing their Promotion song the "Best Day of my Life" by American Authors, to witnessing them sing the music hit “Happy” while leaving the ceremony, the ladies did not leave a stone unturned in their efforts to ensure a memorable night.
