  • As part of Walk & Bike to School Day, Tuckahoe has been selected as the APS Focus School and will represent Arlington Public Schools and its community.  Please join us by encouraging your child’s utilization of his/hers own ‘individual power', whereby conserving natural resources, decreasing environmental pollution and enhancing a healthier lifestyle, by either walking or riding a bicycle in to the school on Wednesday, October 7th beginning at 8:25am.   If riding in to school on a scooter, skateboard or wheeled-skates, please be sure to have your child wear a properly-fitted helmet, knee, elbow and wrist pads.

Students that choose to walk or bike to Tuckahoe will enter the Tuckahoe Field, via the gates. Bicyclists may park their bicycles along the fence line closest to the school.  Stickers, tokens, brochures and information will be distributed to all students by local businesses and organizations on the field.  A brief presentation will begin at 8:50am, with ceremonies concluding by 9:10am.

The Tuckahoe PE Staff will perform helmet condition, proper fit, and safety checks for all students that would like their own personal helmet evaluated.  Helmet checks will be performed prior to the opening school bell on Monday, October 5th through Wednesday, October 7th in the gymnasium.

If you have any questions regarding Bike Walk to School Day, please contact Mr. Bruce Ferratt, Tuckahoe PE Instructor, 703-228-8314  bruce.ferratt@apsva.us.
