Welcome to Abingdon!

Abingdon’s Project GIFT (Gaining Instruction, Fostering Talent) seeks to increase student achievement by implementing instructional practices guided by the framework of Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory. The school’s program provides each student personalized instruction, specialized music instruction, a wide variety of after-school enrichment activities, and a collaborative teaching model of instruction. Abingdon has also eliminated most early-release Wednesdays, increasing instructional time by approximately three weeks.A math resource teacher helps staff develop math units that require students to use higher level thinking skills to solve math problems using a variety of math materials. Students also apply their higher level thinking skills as they participate in experiments in Abingdon’s science lab.An architecture class requires all students to use their multiple intelligences to solve real-world, hands-on architecture related problems. In addition, Abingdon students take a communications class where they learn to communicate using a variety of media.
