Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Wins Macy’s Award to Sponsor Three Book Distributions at the Teenage Parenting Program
RIF event Language Arts Teacher Betty Gibbon and Special Education Teacher Nydia Rios with Senior Karla Vasquez are promoting Reading is Fundamental!

Teachers Nydia Rios and Elizabeth “Betty” Gibbon have worked for many years to make Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) a success at the Teenage Parenting Program (TPP). Their dedication and hard work has been rewarded. The educators have received special funding from RIF and Macy’s to provide three book distributions during the 2012-2013 school year. Every TPP and Infant Care student will receive brand new books throughout the year.

The magical book distribution dates are: November 16, December 14 and February 21.

In addition to providing new books for all TPP students and Infant Care Center students, special guest speakers have performed puppet shows and instructed students in the design and creation of their own books. Library personnel have assisted in other arts and crafts projects and provided for reading time with young children. And, Clifford the big red dog has made several appearances!
