Internet Internet Awareness

At Oakridge, we hope that our students, staff and families practice Internet Awareness, which means they are informed and have the knowledge to use information resources and tools responsibly and ethically in a variety of digital settings.  As such, our curriculum and parent information sessions incorporate digital citizenship, Internet safety, and privacy.

New Mark you calendars!  Marsali Hancock, President and CEO of the iKeepSafe coalition, will join Mrs. Esanu and Mrs. Terwilliger to discuss Internet Awareness. This is an important topic as digital media become more accessible and a large part of our children’s lives. Ms. Hancock’s presentation will focus on the six pillars of Internet Awareness: balance, ethics, privacy, relationships, reputation, and online security.
When:          October 30th at 7:00 pm
Where:         Oakridge Library

Mrs. Esanu and Mrs. Terwilliger met with the Oakridge 5th graders to discuss Internet Awareness.  Every Oakridge 5th grader has access to a computer at home and more than 80% have cell phones.  Everyday they use digital tools and technologies and we want to make sure they are doing so responsibly, safely and ethically.
