    Odyssey of the Mind...

is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Teams of 5-7 students apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level.
Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
Check out this video for a broad overview of the program and a peek inside what goes on at the competitions.

Long Branch will be fielding at least two 5-7 student teams this year, and can support more if you are interested in participating.  We just need students to compete and parents to coach.

If you are curious about this year's problems, want to learn more about the workshops, regional tournaments and other happenings in our area, please visit the NoVA North Region 9 web site.  Long Branch Elem. will compete in Region 11 - called NoVA PRIME - but the Region 9 site has excellent information and links to the national resources.

If you are a parent interested in Coaching a 5-7 member team, please read through this  Coach's Information Page.  Once you have decided this is the right program for you, please contact Mr. Kant via email.

If you are a student interested in participating on a Long Branch team this year, there is a Team Member information page available for you to check out on the Odyssey site also.

TEAMS ARE NOW FORMING!!  Please contact Mr. Kant via email if you have not previously spoken with him or Ms. Culbertson about participating.
