Odysseus Needs a Job!

Computer Resume Project

Objective: Create a job resume for one of the characters from The Children’s Homer.

Essential Questions:

·        What modern day job would best fit the skills, experience, and personality of my chosen character?

·        How can I use an internet template to create a resume for my character?

1. Log onto your student account.
2. Go to:  http://www.careerkids.com/resume.html
3. Select: Quick Resume for Adults
4. Using your notes from last week, create a resume for one of the characters from The Children’s Homer.
5. Be creative! Fields that should be created:

1. CONTACT INFORMATION
2. CAREER OBJECTIVE
3. WORK INFORMATION (most recent first)
4. HONORS/ACTIVITIES
5. RELATED COURSEWORK
6. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
7. SKILLS

6.      When you have completed all of the fields, proofread your work, and then select the   button.

7.      If you need to make any changes to your resume, hit the back arrow and make the changes on the original form.

8.      Print once!

9.      If time allows, go to http://www.careerkids.com/resume.html

10.  You have linked to a program called My First Resume, which is a fun way to learn how your skills and interests can be translated into job skills. After filling in the information, you will see a personalized resume which you can print from your printer.

11.  You will be asked to fill in information about yourself: Name, address, school you attend, and more. It is OK to skip information. The resume will just leave the missing information blank.

12.  Please Note: None of the information you enter will be saved to the Career Kids server. If you want a copy of your resume, you will need to print it out. All information is erased when you reload or quit your browser.
