On Thursday, January 08, 2009 Randolph Elementary held its 1st Annual Geography Bee. Students initially prepared and competed in individual classes, then ten finalists from 4th and 5th grade participated while the students in grades 3, 4, and 5 watched.

The ten finalists were 4th graders Kevin Vallejos, Moises Borjas-Guzman and Sarai Gomez, and 5th grade students Rhimjim Barua, Edward Wu, Alexander Young-Williams, Nicole Rocha-Aguilar, Nieve Schimley, Joseph Sachs, and Erick Claure.  The bee was organized by Social Studies lead teacher, Tricia Zipfel and GT teacher, Pam Clark, and held in coordination with the National Geographic Bee.

The winner of the 2009 Geography Bee was Edward Wu who will take a written test in hopes of competing at the state and the national levels.
