Club de Madres or Wednesday Morning Moms Club
El club de Madres, or Wednesday Morning Moms is a parent support group for Spanish-speaking moms at
Club de madres meets every Wednesday morning at 8:25 a.m. in the school building. For about two hours, over coffee and pastries, the group shares information about activities that are going on in the school. They discuss essential topics that effect them as parents, and occasionally hold basic English classes. They often have guest speakers at their meetings who are invited to discuss important home, school and community issues.
Meeting topics and guest speakers cover many areas of interest. Examples are listed below:
Renters' Rights
School Nurse - Health and Nutrition
Women’s Health Issues
Arlandria Clinic - Health Insurance
Social Worker - Behavior Management
Testing Coordinator - SOLs and Other Testing
School Counselor - Alcohol Abuse
Classroom Teachers - Explain how parents can get involved and can help with
various classroom activities
PTA - Introduce activities and ways for parents to be involved
