Welcome to the World of IB*
The IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
"To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."
The IB is governed by a Board that is representative of the main regions and stakeholder groups who make up the organization. It is managed by a director general and a team of more than 400 employees who work in offices worldwide.
The organization does not own or manage any schools, Instead, we work with schools around the world (both state and privately funded) that share our commitment to international education.
Our three programmes span the years from kindergarten to pre-university and can be offered individually or as a continuum. Each programme includes a curriculum and pedagogy, student assessment, professional development for teachers and school authorization and evaluation.
The programmes encourage membersof the IB learning community to be Inquirers, Thinkers, Principled, Risk-takers, Caring. Open-minded, Balanced and Reflective.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP)
For pupils aged three to twelve years, the PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP)
For pupils aged 11 to 16, the MYP provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and to become critical and reflective thinkers.
The Diploma Programme
For students aged 16 to 19, this is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and life beyond.
