TAB began nearly 25 years ago as a partnership between the Arlington County Public Library and Arlington Public Schools. Begun as a Middle School program, it was designed to get student input and involvement in the selection of books by the libraries and as a resource for committees making recommendations on "best books." This successful program now has a High School component which meets at the Central Library once a month. In 2000, we received a national award form the American Library Association honoring our partnership.

TAB students read and review new titles provided by the public library, many of which end up on the annual award lists. The reviews are sometimes posted on the county and school websites, along with profiles of some of our students. (Check out the County TAB site). Each year, students vote on their "Top 10" titles, creating a list for each school. From time to time, we are able to offer special activities, such as author visits or field trips to area conventions. The club currently meets at lunch on a variety of Wednesdays throughout the year.

Don't forget to check out the other public library websites, including TATAL Online.
