When you use a source (a book, a website, an encyclopedia, etc.) and use
- someone's words
- someone's ideas or opinions
- facts that are not common knowledge
- pictures or images
in a paper or presentation, you must cite the source--give credit where credit is due. You cite to give credit to the work and ideas of others and to avoid plagiarism.
