Good Morning Swanson! Today is Friday, December 6th, and these are your morning announcements:
As you may have seen in the Anchor, the Student Government Association is involved in many activities at Swanson, including organizing service projects and spirit week. We would like to do some new and creative things this year, but we need your help! We will be having a Stella and Dot fundraiser. You can purchase jewelry and handbags, just in time for the holiday season. Orders will be accepted on-line at http://www.stelladot.com/ts/pnou5 . A merchandise show will be held at the school between 5-7PM on December 11th so you can also shop in person. Thanks for supporting the Student Government Association!
Bacon, eggs, warm syrup dripping off a stack of pancakes, crispy, warm, hash browns… does this sound delicious to you? Us too! Did you know that 15,000 people are in poverty in Arlington, Virginia? Many of those families go without a meal whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. Swanson students want to help by collecting 2,500 pounds of food. The food drive is from December 2-13. Please consider donating non-perishable foods, such as peanut butter, canned meats, canned fruits, canned vegetables, pasta, and more. The SGA and Emerging Scholars will be collecting the food during STAR classes. All items will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). Thank you for your support of others in our community. We appreciate you!
Attention 8th graders: The Yorktown AP (Advanced Placement) Scholars program will hold their information night on Monday, December 9 at 7pm at Yorktown High School.
The last two high school information sessions or transfer orientations are scheduled for Tuesday, December 10 and January 14. If you are considering a transfer from your neighborhood school to attend a special program, you must attend a session at your home high school and the high school you are considering applying to…
Wakefield and Yorktown’s sessions begin at 8:30 am and W-L’s begins at 10 am. HB Woodlawn’s sessions begin at 3 pm.
The choral department will give a winter holiday concert next Wednesday, Dec. 11th at 7 pm in the auditorium. Any singer who has completed the Admiral’s Wheel Chorus may join the other chorus groups on My America, Home or Roar. You must let Mrs. Klontz know and attend the dress rehearsal next Tuesday after school. The concert is free and all are welcome to attend.
