  • W-L Earns Sportsmanship Award for Second Year in Row

    The Virginia High School League (VHSL) awarded Washington-Lee High School the 2015 Claudia Dodson VHSL Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award. W-L is one of 29 Virginia high schools to receive the recognition. This is the second year in a row that W-L has received the award. The award recognizes sportsmanship in athletes, coaches, fans, and the school community. Read more here.

  • Juniors Recognized by NBC4

    Juniors Lucas and Pablo Orjales were recognized by NBC4's 12 Days of Giving for their non-profit organization Your Cleats 4 Bare Feets. The Orjales brothers collect donations of soccer cleats and send them to children in developing nations.   • W-L Theater Department Earns Multiple Cappie Awards

    Congratulations to the following students for winning 2014 Cappie Awards for their work on Macbeth:

    Alicia Hartz won for Best Lead Actress in a play for her performance as Lady Macbeth.
    Bailey Kowalski, Carly Greenfield and Katie Humphries won Best Ensemble for their performance of the Witches.
    Lecia Stock, Clare Smith, Nurbanu Davaz and Charlotte Martin won the award for Best Makeup.

  • W-L Wins Prestigious Sportsmanship Award

    Washington-Lee has been awarded the prestigious Claudia Dodson VHSL Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award presented by Wells Fargo. This award recognizes member schools that have established policies and procedures that make sportsmanship a priority and an expectation within the school and school community. Congratulations to all our student athletes, student fans, coaches, and activities office staff!

  • Band Recognized as Virginia Honor Band

    Congratulations to the W-L Band Program, which has earned the title of Virginia Honor Band for the 2013-2014 school year. In order for a high school band to earn this recognition, it must earn Superior ratings in both marching and concert seasons. Go Generals!
