Cardinal Club is our student government group. All first through fifth grade classrooms elect a student to represent their class in the club. Our representatives work diligently to set a good example for the other students and deliver important messages to their classes.
This year, Cardinal Club members launched an anti-bullying campaign. As part of the campaign, Cardinal Club members delivered anti-bulling messages on the morning announcement program and wrote an anti-bullying pledge, shown below. Every student at Abingdon signed this pledge in an effort to make our school a bully-free zone.
Every year, the Cardinal Club sponsors community service projects. In February, students host a “Soup-er Bowl.” Classrooms collect canned goods to be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), helping local families. This year we collected 574 lbs of food! In March, students promote the “Pennies for Patients” program for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Money collected goes towards patient and community service, research and public health and professional education.
