The arts curriculum provides opportunity to learn about core subject areas in creative and interesting ways. We might, for instance, use what we have learned about plants to create a stunning collage portrait of a flower.
Our projects will focus on vocabulary, basic concepts, and fine motor skills. We learn about different art media and how we can use these tools to express ourselves. The art curriculum helps us celebrate festive days and holidays. We create projects and crafts for parties and the prom. We explore lifetime leisure activities such as our unit on knitting. Occupational and Speech Therapy are incorporated into the curriculum to make the arts accessible and enjoyable to every child at Stratford.
In addition to classroom activities, the Humanities Project of Arlington County Schools funds three live performances each school year.
