Hi, my name is Natalie Rigert. My wonderful husband, Jake, and I moved to Arlington in April from the Chicago suburbs. Originally, I am from Bettendorf, Iowa. I attended the University of Iowa - go Hawks! I majored in elementary education with specializations in literacy and couldn’t wait to begin teaching. I was a substitute teacher in Iowa for a year and a half where I was able to experience and appreciate ALL grade levels. Afterwards, I moved to Naperville, Illinois where I taught kindergarten for two years. This past year I taught first grade. I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, and hiking. I am thrilled to be part of the third grade team here at Barrett! This will be an exciting year filled with learning, adventure, and fun!

Upon returning to Virginia I taught ESOL at a junior high school in Woodbridge, VA before joining the Barrett ESOL/HILT team in 2011. I enjoy reading, taking pictures, eating, cooking, exploring DC, and running with students on Fridays with the Barrett Runners Club. I'm excited to continue working with Barrett students as a 3rd grade teacher. I am also looking forward to a great year teaching and learning with Barrett students!
