Hi, I'm Sylvia Garcia. I came to the United States from the Philippines 13 years ago to take my Montessori training at the Washington Montessori Institute in Washington, DC. Working with young children is challenging, fun and a constant learning experience. When I am not teaching, I enjoy taking photographs, reading, listening to music, watching movies, swimming, spending time with my 9-year-old daughter and enjoying my husband's cooking!

Hi I am Katy Fontneau. Ever since I taught as an assistant in a Montessori class when I was in High School and saw the magic of the moment when a child learns a new idea, I wanted to be a Montessori teacher. After that, I went to Catholic University for a BA in Education and Spanish and then finished my M ed at Loyola in Montessori. When I am at home, I enjoy being outside with my boys and my dogs.

We both enjoy teaching children within the Montessori environments at Claremont. Within this 3 year program, children learn to be independent while focusing on their individual work. Children may choose activities that they have had a lesson with the teacher previously during morning work time. Each child receives individual lessons with the teacher at their own level along with group lessons and books during circle time.
