Math

Claremont Mathematicians

Here at Claremont math is taught on the Spanish side of the day.  This means that all math instruction in our kindergarten through fifth grade classes is provided in Spanish.  We focus on our students understanding math concepts, building number sense and developing fact fluency.  Our students represent and communicate their mathematical thinking through pictures, numbers, writing and/or discussion.  We encourage our student mathematicians to apply what they learn to new problem-solving situations.

I am the Math Coach at Claremont.  I have been teaching in Arlington Public Schools since 1993.  I have an Education Specialist degree from George Washington University and a Virginia endorsement as a Math Specialist for Elementary and Middle Education.

I have one of the best jobs at Claremont.  I am able to share my love of math with students, parents and teachers.  We enjoy working as mathematicians and solving problems together.  Representing and communicating about our thinking makes us better mathematicians and prepares us for higher-level math classes and using math in our everyday lives.
