Music / Música

Music / Música

Claremont students sing, play instruments, improvise melodies, variations and accompaniments, compose music, read and notate music, listen to, describe, and analyze music, evaluate music and music performances, understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts, and understand music in relation to history and culture, and oh yeah, we have a lot of fun!

I have been teaching Music at Claremont for five years. I graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a BA in Music and a Masters in Education. I love to share my love of music with our students. In my spare time I enjoy building instruments and spending time outdoors, hiking and backpacking.

This is my second year teaching at Arlington and my eighth year overall, having taught in the Voorheesville Public Schools and Malverne Public Schools in New York.  I earned my Bachelor's degrees from the University of Michigan in music education and voice performance and my Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music in classical voice.  I've taught all grade levels from Pre-K all the way to 12th Grade and, though I've really enjoyed them all, my elementary students are my favorite because their enthusiasm and love for music is so much like my own!  When I'm not teaching, I love studying all kinds of dance (especially tap and ballet), performing in shows at the Little Theater of Alexandria, and goofing around with my family and friends.
