February 28th 2013: Today students received documents for the middle school transition. They were given a Course Request Form, a program of studies and if your student is going to Gunston, a letter from Gunston explaining their course options. Please fill out the course request form and return to Mrs. White by Monday March 18th. if you have any questions please contact Mrs. White or the appropriate middle school directly.

Student Orientation Visit
On Friday January 11th all 5th grade students will have the opportunity to attend an orientation at Gunston Middle School. Transportation will be provided by APS and students will leave Claremont at 9:30am and return after lunch at 12:30pm. Students will have the option to purchase lunch at Gunston or bring their own. The goal of this orientation is to begin to give the students a feel for middle school culture.
In the spring students will take another field trip to the middle school which they are registered for for the 2013-2014 school year.
A form was sent home the week of January 7th for parents to complete regarding which school their student will attend in the fall. Please return this form to Mrs. White by January 18th; even if your student will attend the immersion program at Gunston.
Parent Information Session
On Monday January 14th there will be a parent information session at Gunston beginning at 7pm all for rising 6th graders. Additionally on Tuesday January 15th at 11:30 am there will be a parent information session for transfer students only. For further information about these sessions please contact Gunston Middle School directly at (703) 228-6900.
If you would like your student to attend a middle school other than Gunston or your neighborhood school you are required to attend an information session at the desired middle school. You must have a pupil transfer application signed by the principal of the desired school as well as your neighborhood school. This form is due Friday January 18th to your desired middle school.
