Middle School Information Sessions
  • All Arlington middle schools schedule school information sessions and course information night to provide parents an opportunity to visit the schools, meet the principals, tour the buildings, and get a general sense of the personality of each of the schools.
  • All parents of rising middle school students are encourage to attend one of these sessions; no RSVP required.
  • School information sessions are requited for families who are considering applying to another school other than their neighborhood school including the middle school countywide schools and programs.

Signing up for 6th Grade Courses

            All middle school students will receive the Program of Studies and a Course Request Form (CRF) in February from the middle school which they plan to attend. Students will work with Mrs. White and the middle school counselors to fill out the CRF.  Students will then take the CRF home to reviewed and signed by their parents.  Students will return the CRF info Mrs. White who will then make sure that the appropriate middle school counseling department receives it.

Middle School Orientation

            All 5th grade students will visit the Middle School they will be attending in the April, date to be determied. They will have the opportunity to hear from the principal, counselors, and current students about a typical day for 6th graders. They will hear about different courses and electives and take a tour of the school building.

Transfer Application TimeframeNovember 13, 2014- January 16, 2015 If you want your student to attend a middle school other than Gunston and their neighborhood school you must complete a transfer application form.  The applications are available at on the APS homepage; Registration School Options Pupil Transfer Application
