Fab Four Competes One More Time

Gymnastic team seniors Kylie Auble, Mary Lynn Clark, Maia Mandel and Madeleine Sendek will compete as a part of team Virginia at the National Meet in Fort Myers, Fla. at the Estero Recreation Center on May 17 and 18.

Young Rowers Receive Recognition

It's Awards season and the Generals are piling them up!

Here is a list of awards different students and groups have received in the last few weeks:

The Washington-Lee Concert Band and Symphonic Band both earned a SUPERIOR RATING at the District Band Assessment on Friday and Saturday. They are now a 2012-13 Virginia State Honor Band.
Natalia Rodas-Caleron (junior) and Margaret Barry (senior) who both won sliver awards for their paintings at the National Scholastics Art and Writing competition. National Medalists will be celebrated at the prestigious Carnegie Hall ceremony on May 31st and have their work showcased in reputable galleries in New York City.

For the second year in a row, Luisa Banchoff won a Scholastic Gold Medal for writing for a prose fiction narrative! She also took home one of the 15 National Portfolio Medals which honors a collection of written submissions in poetry. As a bonus, this second award is accompanied by a scholarship.

Last but not least a congratulation s to the Forensic Team and all the students whose accumulated earned points at the WACFL tournaments this season helped earn the prestigious Daniel S. Masterson Jr. Sweepstakes trophy! This honor is bestowed on all students of Forensics--and especially because of our amazing Debate team under the incredible leadership of Paul Bui.

Gymnastics Does it Again

W-L Junior Has Her Eye On The Stage

Cassidy Boomsma is currently an 11th grader at W-L. Next week, she will be interviewed at Washington-Lee about a play she wrote that has recently been published in a book.

In 8th grade, Cassidy wrote the play "Love, Math and Martian's Don't mix" which was chosen by the Young Playwright Theatre (YPT) to be performed by professional actors/actresses. The next year, this play was then chosen to be performed on a tour to many different schools in the area. Then last year, her play was chosen to be published as a collection of plays. Last month, she was interviewed on Fox news about her play.
