Last Day to Participate in the 2012 Community Satisfaction Survey

Here's Your Chance to Grade APS
2012 Community Satisfaction Survey

APS is conducting a survey of parents, students, teachers, and community members to determine the level of satisfaction with the educational services and learning environments within the school system.

The responses will provide APS with indicators of success and will also highlight areas for improvement to meet the School Board's priorities for achieving the school system's strategic goals. The goals indicate rising achievement for all students and eliminating gaps in achievement between certain groups of students as well as optimizing learning environments and meeting the needs of the whole child.

Sample Questions:

  • What overall grade would you give your child's school: A, B, C, D, or F?
  • Are tax dollars well spent by the Arlington Public School system?
  • Do you think your child is spending too little, too much, or the right amount of time on homework?
  • How would you rate your ability to communicate with your child's teachers?
  • How respectful is your child's school of cultural differences?

Survey Timeline:

  • April 11 - May 4: Telephone survey of parents (in English and Spanish.)
  • April 23 - May 11: Online survey of staff and teachers.
  • Work session with School Board in May/June to discuss preliminary results.
  • Full presentation of the Community Satisfaction Survey at start of 2012-13 school year.

If called, we encourage you to participate in this short 10-minute telephone survey. Please share your experience so we can get an accurate measurement from the community and identify where improvements are needed. Surveys will be conducted in both English and Spanish and are completely confidential.
