Vertical Scaled Score: 2023 Growth Assessments for Grades 3-8 Reading & Mathematics

Virginia students take Growth Assessments in Math and Reading in the fall and winter and the Standards of Learning (SOL) Assessments in the spring. During Fall 2023, teachers are using the results of this test to understand how much students learned or missed last year. As partners to teachers and students, VDOE has created this guide for teaching staff and any parent or caregiver to learn more about how results can be used to celebrate growth and highlight additional support such as tutoring to strengthen foundational skills.

Find the student’s Vertical Scaled Score on their Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) report for the Fall and/or Winter 2023 Growth Assessment for each test.
