State Superintendent Visits APS

On March 1, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Lisa Coons and her esteemed team visited three schools and programs – Alice West Fleet, Montessori Public School of Arlington, and Claremont Immersion. At Fleet, where Dr. Coons joined a third grade Collaborative Learning Team planning session, facilitated by literacy and math coaches, and toured the sustainability features of the school that make it the largest net-zero school in the country. At Montessori, she visited six classrooms, starting in primary (ages 3-6). At Claremont, she learned about the immersion program, visited classes and was treated to a musical performance in Spanish. Claremont also convened parents and staff to discuss the benefits of the program. It was a profound honor to showcase the exemplary work of APS to Dr. Coons and her team, reaffirming our commitment to excellence in education. See
